How to make stress your friend

In this video, Kelly McGonigal, a psycologist, wants to change our prejudices about stress.
She's been teaching, during ten years, something that now she don't believe. She thought that stress was bad, she thought stress was harmful, that stress increases the possibility to have a heart attack. But now she knows that this is only true for that persons who believes that.
She discovered that people who have a lot of stress but they don't think that that is harmful, they're no more likely to die.
People dont' die by stress, but for the stress beliefs.
"When you change your mind about stress, you can change your body's responses to stress"
Stress is helpful, you breath faster and your brain obtain more oxyge.
At the end she thinks that stress helps you to be more sociable.

Self evaluation

Presentation: I think our presentation was a little bit superficial, but I think it was good because it was ordered correctly and with more visual information than written. Moreover I think that we have spoken a litle bit of everything. So I think we have 35/40.

Body language: I think I have read a little bit, because I was so nervous, but I think that I didn't read so much, and I had eye contact with the teacher, but not with the students, so I think I have 6/10.

Structure: As I said before I think it's good. So I think 10/10.

Content: It might could be more specific. So 9/10.

Language: I think it was all good but I'm sure that I've done some mistakes. I think 8/10.

Pronunciation: I think that I've pronounced pretty well and moreover Nil helped us to learn how to pronounce some words. So I think 9/10.

The happy secret to better work

Shawn Achor, the man who appears on the video, talks about how we can be happier. He explains it with a funny speech, full of enjoyable jokes. He said that we only have to change the standpoint, the perspective. He said that if we see the things in a positive way, we will be happier. He said: "The absence of disease is not health". So what I think is that if we watch the world in a negative way, we will not be happy, because if you always think in bad things you couldn't be happy.

EXTRAWORK: Is it better to live at home or on a campus when you are at university?

When you have to decide on a universiy you are conditioned by money. You can't choose something you can't afford and that is why so many times we choose the closest to our home.

I think that's unfair, because sometimes you want to go to a university and you can't just because money doesn't gives you possibilities and no one offers help.
So, if you go a university near your home it is better to stay there because it's cheaper.
On the other hand it's true that in the campus you will live new experciences and you can wake new friends.

In conclusion, I think that if you have money it's better to go on a campus because it's more fun, but if you haven't, it's better to stay home and save the money for other more important things.

Why people is so crazy?

In my opinion nowadays is very important to control what we upload on the internet, because it will be there all of your life, and anyway, if you delete it later someone could have save it, and it will remain on the social network.
A few days ago I see a video in Youtube, and I freaked out with it, because someday the girl that appears in this video will regret it. I think she's crazy, in this video she appears saying that she's a cat. She says a lot of nosenses.

Here is the video:

Does humor play an important role in life?

Some people belive that humor is the best medicine to heal an injury. Si I think thta humor has an important role in life, because it helps many people to find happiness. And that's the objective of everyone: finding happiness.

Sometimes we use humoer to dodge us away from sadness, and it's effective. Moreover, humor come with our daily life, it is the way out of our problems. In my opinion when we laugh we forget all our worries, because we can't be happy and worried at the same time.

In conclusion, I think that humor helps us to be happier, and I haven't arguments against happiness and humor.

First mail

Hello my name is Giorgia Molteni and I’m 17 years old. I’m a student of 2nd batx IES Castelló d’Empúries. I live in Castelló d’Empúries in a house with my parents and my brother. I used to play volleyball but with the beginning of the Batxillerat I have left it.

My short-term goals are many but the most important ones at the moment are finishing my research project successfully and passing the high school with a good mark. I will do all the homework and study hard to get it. Another short-term goal is to get the driving license and find a good job for the summer to pay for it. Moreover I will go to Italy to visit my family and stay with them a few days.

I also have long-term goals, one of them is to travel around all the world, because I like travelling and I want to see more than I've already seen. Moreover I have more goals like: have a family, be financially stable, have a good job, stay in love with someone, and If I won the lottery I would be 100% happy.

The sentence that I liked is “No one’s written your destiny for you” because it’s true, you can do what you want and you decide what you want to be. No one has the power to stop you, you have to think what it’s good and what isn’t. You have your destiny in your hands. If you have a dream and you want to fullfil it don’t give up, never. And don’t give up if you fail, “let your failures teach you”.

LOOKING BACK

I see an important improvement on my english level, I improved slowly but constantly. Obviously I learned to write better and I learned new vocabulary, but the topics are different, some are interesting and some others are a little bit boring, for example, stages or Frankenstein, I didn't like it, I don't know exactly why, but I prefer other topics.

I think the best activities are the songs in class, the oral presentations and all the activities we do in papers like writings, exercices, etc.

All activities together demonstrate the validity of my English, but I think are necessary spoken improvisation activities, because some day I'll find someone in the street who can need help and I would not be able to answer right away.

I think that all the activities are usefull, because I'll need it in the future, but it's difficult to do everything, especially the blog, because it requires a lot of time, and sometimes I don't have it.

I think that the subtitled movies aren't useful, because no one watch the film, they only read the subtitles ( most people ). I think is better to watch it without subtitles and try to understand what the film say.

As I said before, I would like to do activities of spoken improvisation.

The power of words

Many times we don't give importance to the words we say, we say the first thing we thought, without thinking of the consequences. We have to weigh our words because often they make the difference. Words have a big power that no one appreciates.
People who have the gift of speech can convince everyone about anything, and that solves many problems. Here we have a video I saw a couple of years ago in an English class. It impressed me, that video showed me that the power of words is incredible.
I invite you to watch the video and enjoy it:

Squats of Can Vies

After the incident of Can Vies, Xavier Trias porposes transfer the building that remains standing so they can reform it and use it maximum until 2016, when it will be demolished. The first thing that the squatters said was that they rejected the bid. Their agenda doesn't include the building permit or the request submitted to the municipal mandate. "We want to constrict in a model that isn't ours," said a spokesman.

"If there is any entity that wants to present any other project, we will study," said Joaquim Forn
It would be a civic management, with some control that squatters are not ready to sign.

Because of this he decided to travel there a few months before, to observe the preparations, and then he discovered the terror that these important events causes. After this, he decided that he didn't want to write the article and he explained his reasons on Facebook. He said that "

During his stay in Brazil he discovered that the consequences caused by the celebration of the World Cup was several: remodeling, armed forces and military police in communities, corruption, neglect of social projects ... He discovered all projects and changes to people like he, a foreigner. He said " I'm being used to make a good impression.

Police killed kids at night to clean the streets and make a good impression to tourists for the World Cup.

This is appalling, it's illegal and is unethical.
Now that this is public, that a journalist has discovered this horrible secret, Brazil should be ashamed.

FRANCY

My cousin Francesca (also Fra or Francy) is 15 years old. She lives in Italy so we can't see very often, but I remember perfectly how she is.

She has short black hair but no extremely short, peculiars eyes, because she seems a Chinese girl, she has a little nose and a perfect mouth. She's dark skinned but no much. She's always well dressed with gorgeous clothes. She's thin and also strong because she does skate rolling.

This sports makes her responsible because she is in a group of skate. She's so kind and she has so much sense of humour, she is like my best friend because she is so generous with me , she isn't mean or stingy, and she's so cheerful.  She's ambitious, she always wants more than what she has. She isn't sht so she has so many friends, and they talk so much. My cousin is very easy-going, but when she gets angry, she is the opposite. She's a little bit rebel but she's so much fond.

Francesca's lovely, she's the best cousin I have, like Laura, my other favourite cousin. I love Francy, and I wanna see her early.
